SPM: System of Professional Management

Distance-delivered training course for practicing managers
Independent course, or a part of ProfMC - Professional Certificate in Management

SPM course includes five interrelated topics and lasts five weeks. It allows you study a system approach to management and then apply this approach in your organization. SPM is "an engineering way to understand management", where you will systematically build a foundation for professional management of organization.You will learn step-by-step all management stages- from strategy definition and goal setting to the multilateral system of control.

Each topic begins with an analysis of problematic situations, which most often faced by managers. Analysis of these situations leads us to the list of competencies that managers must possess, and which you will learn throughout the course. Then you get a set of turn-based recommendations for each of the competencies manager. At the end of each topic, you are implementing the acquired knowledge, developing proposals for improving management in their company.

This course is one of the three components of the program "Professional Certificate in Management", but can also be taken independently - as a separate course. To receive Professional Certificate in Management, you should take three courses -- SPM-System of professional management in a firm, HRM-Art of managing People, LEAD-Leadership as a job, and complete a final project.

After successful completion of all three courses of the program and passing a consulting project you will receive a "Professional Certificate in Management from L2G Institute of Management", issued by the U.S. licensed training center.

Topic of the course

SPM-1. Goal setting and planning: focusing your company on results

As a result of studying this topic you will prepare step-by-step recommendations for improving goal-setting and planning in a real organization.

SPM-2. Organizational structure developed for strategy implementation

As the result of studying this topic, you will make suggestions for optimizing the structure of your department or organization. You will choose a structure corresponding to the type of your business. You will formulate steps to maximize the advantages and avoid the disadvantages for each type of structure. You will prepare a matrix of responsibilities and authority matrix.

SPM-3. That's how we work in our company: Development of corporate culture

You will diagnose organizational culture in companies that you know. You will master the technique of changing organizational culture. You will prepare an action plan to improve corporate culture of an organization.

SPM-4. Communication channels and linking processes in a company: The chain is as strong as its weakest link

You will be able to develop step-by-step suggestions and action plan to improve communication processes in your company. You will apply the technique of "setting internal consumer behavior".

SPM-5. Development of effective organizational control system

You will have a choice to create a control system for the sales department "Assuring sales volume and quality of work with the clients", or to choose the most appropriate control system for another department. You will determine the step-by-step framework of control system and define the indicators and methods for its measurement.

Training process

The length of the course is 5 weeks. Each topic is discussed during one week.

All materials subject to a single idea, "What you need to know as the manager to solve this or that practical task". You get to know each of these topics by learning the problems that practicing managers face every day.

The learning process is based on solving business situations and instantaneous application of knowledge to real-life situations happening in a company. 95% of our students conduct the consulting project for their own business - developing and improving management of the department, division or company that they manage.

During the training, you apply the knowledge to your job. At the end of each topic, you will write a 2-page paper to correct the shortcomings in management by using the world-tested knowledge gained in video-lectures of Dr. Julia Ivy. Your tutor gives feedback on your work.
